Campaigning and Lobbying
For many community and voluntary sector groups, achieving some sort of positive change is the very reason why they have come together. Whether you are a group campaigning for a local children's park in to be revamped, or looking to influence housing policy set by the government, campaigning and lobbying is likely to be something you will do (whether you realise it or not!)
There are lots of online resources, top tips and so on, but some of our favourites are listed below.
- The National Council for Voluntary Organisation's Campaigning Effectiveness Programme is a central resource for developing and improving influencing, advocacy and campaigning in the voluntary sector
- Have a look at The BBC's Action Network web pages for some very useful information
- Help the Aged has a very useful campaign toolkit
- The Overseas Develpment Institute's guide to lobbying provides an overview of what lobbying is and tips on how to be effective.
- Write to Them allows you to send an email or fax directly to your local councillor or MP.
