Working with other VCS Groups
Finding other groups in the community and voluntary sector
Networking within the voluntary sector provides an opportunity to share information, good practice and knowledge. Organisations can develop joint projects, work together to solve problems and potentially attract more resources into the city.
The Community and Voluntary Sector Forum is an umbrella group of more than 520 groups in the city, where you can meet with others. Its website provides details of members, a database of community and voluntary organisations in the city and lists other networks local to Brighton and Hove.
Beachcomber (by the Resources Centre) is a database of resources and contacts that groups in Brighton and Hove, East and West Sussex have found useful for their work.
ESCIS (East Sussex Community Information Service) is a database of local and community information developed and managed by the Library and Information Services of East Sussex County Council.
The Brighton & Hove Advice Services Network has provided a forum for advice agencies to meet, plan their work, and develop collective solutions to problems for over 20 years.
There are also regional and national networks which may provide useful inroads for some organisations.
RAISE (Regional Action and Involvement in the South East) seeks to enable voluntary/community organisations in the South East to influence regional policy, wherever it is made or implemented, for the benefit of the people they serve.
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations gives voice and support to voluntary and community organisations in England.
There are many sub-sector specific organisations providing links between groups working on similar themes. For a listing, see http://www.volresource.org.uk/info/support.htm
