Legal briefing on Charities and Trading
Charities and Trading – Tue 20th March 2007 – 6.30-8.45pm - Brighthelm
Charities are increasingly looking to trading as a means of becoming more sustainable, less dependent on grants and with a larger, unrestricted independent funding stream. The briefing session will explain what is regarded as 'trading'; what you can do safely through the charity, what is borderline and when you should be routing the trading activity through a separate entity. With practical advice to keep you on the right side of the Charity Commission, the law and HMRC. Please bring along your constitution to refer to during the session.
With Christine Rigby (solicitor) from Bates, Wells and Braithwaite, one of the leading charity and social enterprise law practices in England, in the Brunswick Room, Brighthelm Community Centre, North Road, Brighton
The briefing is open to community activists, volunteers, paid workers and management committee members from community groups and voluntary organisations in Sussex.
