China Activity Grant

This scheme is designed to help schools (primary, secondary and SEN), sixth form colleges and FE colleges across the UK to arrange events or activities that will help their students learn more about China or the Mandarin Chinese language.

One of the aims of the programme is to create local networks of interest in China and Chinese, and so all applicants must pass on what they learn to others in their local area.

Grants of up to £750 are available and activities can take whatever form the organisers think would most benefit the students. This could, for example, involve a Chinese arts group putting on activities in a UK school, a series of Mandarin classes being run or bringing a teacher from a partner school in China to the UK.

Applications are accepted from:schools or colleges; several schools and/or colleges working together; or a school or college working with one or more community organisations.

The Second Round deadline for receipt of applications is 1 March 2010.
