Safer London Foundation Crime Prevention Grants

The Deadline for the Safer London Foundation Crime Prevention Grants is now imminent.From an allocated ?400,000, grants range from a minimum of ?50,000 up to a maximum of ?100,000. Matched funding will be taken into consideration when assessing applications. Applications for funding are welcomed from all areas of London where individuals, community groups, charities and Safer Neighbourhood Police Teams want to develop innovative projects to reduce crime and create safer neighbourhoods. Awards of up to ?1,000 are available to support a range of project activities which benefit young people who are excluded or isolated. The current bidding round will support projects running from June to August closes on 28 March.

Screen South Digital Shorts 2008

Applications are now being accepted from the South East's film makers for the Digital Shorts scheme which will fund a minimum of six films, up to a maximum budget of ?10,000 per film.The scheme will operate an open genre policy in order to encourage as many diverse entries as possible. Films can be live-action drama, animation or documentary. Any of the following will be eligible to apply: A writer/director and writer team who can team up with a production team/company during the first development phase if shortlisted. A writer/director or director and writer team with a producer/production company attached. A writer/director or a director and writer team attached. Writers and directors who have written or directed a digital short through any Digital Shorts scheme in the UK prior to 2008 and meet the other eligibility criteria. The 2008/09 Digital Shorts application deadline is 24 October 2008 (5 pm).

SDO & National Institute for Health Research

Current Issues Affecting the Health and Social Care Workforce: The NHS Service Delivery and Organisation (SDO) programme is a national research programme established to consolidate and develop the evidence base on the organisation, management and delivery of healthcare services in England.A Call for Proposals entitled the 'Health and Social Care Workforce - Current Issues' is now seeking applications under the following themes: The Effectiveness of Multi-Professional Team-Working. The Contribution of the Health and Social Care Workforce in Maintaining Patient Dignity. The Impact and Implications of New Technologies on Workforce Reconfiguration and the Educational and Training Needs of Managers and Professionals. The Impact of Staff Motivation and Well-being on Patient Care. The Public Health Workforce. Researchers working in the field of health in England are eligible to apply. Under this Call, projects of up to three years' duration may be funded to a maximum of ?450,000 per project. The deadline for the receipt of proposals is 26 July 2007.

Sea Change: Coastal Resorts

Sea Change is a three year ?45m programme that will provide funding for the economic regeneration of coastal areas through specific investment in culture and heritage. The scheme is managed by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).As part of the first round of funding three towns including Dover will benefit from up to ?4m each for cultural and heritage projects. In addition, the scheme will provide up to 12 smaller grants ranging from ?200,000-?1m to other coastal areas via an open application programme. All bids must be led by local authorities (County/District) will require business and project management plans and will also need to show that they can find match funding of at least 50% to qualify for a grant (includes in-kind). Any coastal resort with a cultural project that would be a catalyst for regeneration can apply for this funding. Each local authority is limited to one bid per bidding round and the deadline for bids for the first round is 30 June 2008.

South East Innovation & Growth Teams
The scheme aims to support sub-regional partnerships by providing grant funding to establish local Innovation and Growth Teams. These Teams will create communities of innovation and growth, delivering specialist services to businesses that have potential for significant growth and ultimately generate substantial local and regional economic benefits that improve the global competitiveness of the South East.SEEDA is inviting partners to collaborate at a sub-regional level, working across administrative boundaries to develop a platform for supporting high growth businesses at a local level but within a regional framework. Partnerships should have a shared purpose, underlined by a charter, constitution or similar formal agreement, to develop, manage and deliver the Team activities for the benefit of the local high growth business community. Proposals for grant funding can be of the value of ?500,000 to ?1 million per annum over a three year period. Only exceptional projects will receive the maximum level of funding Project costs that are eligible for funding must be directly related to the delivery of activities under this grant funding, and include the following: Staff costs. Staff related costs. Direct costs of delivery to clients. Overheads. Applications for the second phase will be invited in early 2009, in the following areas: Oxfordshire. Kent & Medway. Enterprising and innovative companies that make a contribution to the South East of England are invited to enter this new award scheme. Companies should have helped to raise levels of productivity in the region and demonstrate sustainable business practices through environmental and social commitments. The awards are open to organisations of all sizes and sectors, for example family businesses, multi-national companies, public sector and voluntary organisations. Sexual Assault Referral Centres: 2008 Funding Round Open

Applications are invited from partnerships of police forces and primary care trusts (PCTs) together with any local sexual violence voluntary sector organisations and existing Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) for funding.The 2008/09 and 2009/10 spending rounds have been combined and a total of ?1.6 million is available to offer continuous support in developing and enlarging the network of existing and new SARCs. Existing SARCs can apply for up to ?25,000 in capital grants and ?30,000 in resource funding. New SARCs can apply for up to ?75,000 in capital grants. The deadline for submission of applications is 7 November 2008.

Shell Better Britain Campaign

Funds community groups for sustainable development of their local area. This can mean local environmental activities, projects to do with transport and energy as well as schemes to develop green space.

Shell Springboard

Support available to small to medium-sized enterprises across the UK that have a compelling business plan. The business plan should be for a product or service which will lead to greenhouse gas reductions and the idea should be innovative and commercially viable.Up to six awards are offered of between ?20,000 and ?40,000. A maximum of two awards are offered in each region: Scotland and Northern Ireland. Northern and Central England. Wales and Southern England. Applications accepted from UK-based sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and community interest companies (including government and university spin-outs) that have less than 250 employees. Businesses must also have been established for a minimum of three months. The deadline for receipt of applications is 9 November 2007.

They support projects that encourage economically disadvantaged children and young people to participate in educational opportunities that they would not otherwise have had. Core costs will be considered.

SITA Enriching Nature Programme Extended

SITA Trust has announced that its biodiversity scheme will be enhanced with new funds through its programme Enriching Nature 09. The existing three-year programme was due to come to an end in 2008, but recognising the enormous demand for biodiversity investment, the SITA Trust Board has decided to build on the success of the current format.The Fund supports projects within ten miles of landfill sites (owned by any company) in England and is open to not-for-profit organisations, charities and local authorities. There are two funding bands as follows: ? Small Fund - for projects up to ?25,000. Projects of this value should ideally meet national and regional priorities for species and habitats, but local priorities will also be considered. ? Large Fund - for projects up to ?175,000. Projects of this value must meet national priorities for species and habitats. Current regional availability of funds, as of 20 March 2008, is as follows: ? South East - ?83,244 Upcoming deadlines are 25 June 2008 and 14 October 2008.

SITA Trust

Communities Challenge Fund
The Trust has made the decision to extend the application period to encourage more organisations and projects to apply. The relatively small number of applications that were received suggests to the Trust that some organisations may have been unable to prepare an application within the relatively short period time allowed for the process.The Communities Challenge Fund provides the opportunity for projects located within 10 miles of an active SITA-owned landfill site to apply for a funding award that will take place once every calendar year. The total fund available each year is ?750,000 and consists of three ?250,000 awards, one for each of the following categories: Community facilities Historic buildings / structures (Grade I listed places of worship and historic buildings / structures with an appropriate designation) Sport and recreation facilities The new application deadline is 27th September 2007

SITA Trust

Green Prints
GreenPrints is an England-wide volunteering programme which offers funding and practical support for greenspace improvement projects carried out by young people aged 16-25GreenPrints Flagships GreenPrints Flagships provide grants of up to ?10,000 and practical mentor support for longer-term projects designed, implemented and evaluated by 16-25 year old volunteers. Projects can last for up to 6 months and should focus on improving a community greenspaces for the local community and wildlife. Visit:

Small Changes, Big Differences

Bursaries are available to individuals within the UK who want to make a small but meaningful change to their community environment. The funding may be used for projects such as:buying ?hippos? to place in a community centres toilets; putting up hanging baskets to improve the look of an area; starting an organic vegetable garden in a school; introducing a local car-sharing scheme; purchasing solar panels for a school to save energy and money. Bursaries of between ?50 and ?5,000 are available to individuals aged 16 or over. Projects do not need to be charitable, although they should benefit the community. The deadline for receipt of applications is 29 October 2007.

Small scale green energy projects

Changes to the Government's Low Carbon Building Programme (LCBP) are providing more generous grants for schools, charities and public buildings.The LCBP consists of two elements: Phase I - Householder grants of up to ?2,500 per property towards the cost of installing a certified product by a certified installer, Phase II - Provides grants for the installation of microgeneration technologies to public sector buildings and charitable bodies. In addition, there will be no need to get planning permission to install devices like solar panels, ground and water source heat pumps and biomass systems. Relaxation of the planning rules for micro wind and air source heat pumps is expected to follow shortly.
