Launch of the Enterprising Young Brits Awards.Young people in the UK that have grown their own idea, exploited an opportunity or developed a new way of doing things are invited to enter this annual award scheme. Applicants must be UK residents and under the age of 30 at the time of submission.There are five categories of award which are as follows: Business Entrepreneur. Social and Community. Creative. Teen (for individuals between the ages of 13 and 19). High Growth Business. Five finalists from each category are invited to attend the final, and awards ceremony, during Enterprise Week (12-18 November 2007) in London. The winner of each category receives ?1,000, a trophy and certificate, and previous finalists have benefited from widespread publicity. The closing date for receipt of applications is 22 October 2007.

Measures Announced in Support of the Housing Market

Housing Minister, Caroline Flint, has announced a series of measures and reforms designed to alleviate current pressures on the housing market and support the much-needed delivery of more homes in the long-term.The measures have come as part of a new update, published today, which aims to address the following: ? The progress on delivering more homes. ? Helping first time buyers. ? Supporting existing home owners. ? Assisting the industry which is currently facing tougher conditions. ? Ensuring the right foundations are in place for when a recovery in new build starts. More details on these measures will be reported when the information becomes available.

Media Trust

Media Trust work with media organisations and charities to enhance their communications and enable communities to find their voice and make it heard.

Mediabox

Mediabox is a ?6 million fund that aims to give 13-19 year olds lifelong skills in media production, opportunities to boost their social and personal development, and a platform for their voices to be heard. Mediabox will offer grants for film, radio, television, print, photography and interactive media projects ranging from ?1,000 to ?80,000 to be completed and distributed by March 2008. Young people will be at the core of Mediabox at every stage, from inception to final delivery.

Ministry of Justice

Third Round of the Ministry of Justice's Innovation Fund - Now Launched
The third round of the Ministry of Justice's Innovation Fund has launched to applicants with fresh ideas for encouraging people to become involved in democracy.The Innovation Fund will support projects that develop new ways to help people participate in public discussions and influence government policy. Bids from ?5,000 to ?15,000 are expected per project, up to the total budget of ?150,000. Project funding is open to non-governmental organisations, charities, community groups and other relevant bodies. Potential applicants must adhere to the Ministry of Justice's equality and diversity statement. Applicants should keep in mind the following six criteria for the Fund: - The project assists people to discuss public issues and influence government policy-making. - The project trials a new or different method or technique for engagement, or applies an existing method or technique in a new way. - Where there are similar existing engagement programmes, the project complements or builds on these rather than duplicating them. - The project is nationwide, or could be rolled out across the country, or could be adopted by other organisations. - The project can achieve a tangible result within 12 months and a review of the result within 15 months. - The project is sustainable beyond the life of the Innovation Fund grant. Money Saving Expert - New Grants Available

The Money Saving Expert Charity aims to fight financial and consumer illiteracy and break the cycle of debt. Grants are available both for individuals seeking to educate themselves and for groups/charities looking to develop projects.Individual Grant Grants of up to ?500 are available to UK individuals over the age of 18 to help pay towards a recognised and approved course that will help improve the applicant?s ability to budget and manage their finances. The grant can be used to pay for course fees or other necessary expenses. Organisational Grant Not-for-profit constituted organisations in the UK can apply for grants of up to ?5,000 for projects that aim to educate people about money, debt, and/or consumer issues. The deadline for receipt of applications for an individual grant is 12 September 2008. Applications for organisational grants can be made at any time.

Morgan Stanley - Great Britons

Secondary school classes within the UK are invited to enter this Competition which focuses on Britishness, which has become an important topic in the educational agenda. Three lessons have been designed that may be taught as part of Citizenship to encourage discussion, debate and exploration of what Britishness means.The winning class receives ?1,000 to spend on their class, or preferably the whole school. The Mothercare Charitable Foundation aims to help parents in the UK and worldwide meet their needs and aspirations for their children and to give their children the best chance of good health, education, well-being and a secure start in life. Specifically, the Foundation welcomes applications from registered charities and research organisations associated with the following criteria: - ensuring the good health and well-being of mums-to-be, new mums and their children; - special baby-care needs and premature births; - other parenting initiatives relating to family well-being

Moto in the Community

The aim of the Moto in the Community Trust is to make a positive difference to the 48 different communities of which it is part.The trust looks to support a wide variety of local charity and community projects. Closing date for applications to trust for grants or partnership activities is 10 days prior to the trustee meeting date. Trustee meeting 13 May 2008, 12 August 2008 and 11 November 2008. There is no minimum or maximum grant but as Moto is a new charity it is unlikely the trustees would consider grants exceeding ?10,000 at this time.

Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA)

Their Past Your Future: Third and Final Funding Round Open to ApplicationsMuseums, libraries and archives venues in England are invited to submit applications under Year 3, the final round of this programme. Their Past Your Future encourages exploration of the impact and ongoing legacy of 20th century conflict. Grants of up to ?10,000 are available and can be used to develop programmes, workshops, exhibitions and events that improve community cohesion and support community learning through projects which encourage meaningful intergenerational activities between younger and older people. The deadline for the receipt of applications is 16 January 2009.

Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) - Love Libraries Award 2007

The Award will identify and recognise library services that are doing exceptional work in attracting teenagers and young people under 25 to use the library, and bringing them back time and time again. The winning library service will receive a ?Love Libraries Award?
