Academy for Sustainable Communities

Creating the Future Awards
Creating the Future Awards is the Government's national awards scheme for the sustainable communities sector. The Awards underlie the Government?s commitment to delivering sustainable communities and also helps to identify best practice examples that others can learn from.The scheme recognises and celebrates projects and initiatives in England that contribute to making better places in which to live and work. Entries are invited from individuals, organisations, partnerships, projects and schemes across the public, private and third sectors in England. Anyone may submit an entry or nomination. ACEVO Full Cost Recovery Guide

ACEVO, the organisation representing Chief Executives of VSOs, have published a free Full Cost Recovery toolkit for use by groups looking to secure external funding and the associated overhead costs.

ACRE Launches

National rural community development charity Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE), and members of the Rural Community Action Network (RCAN) have announced the launch of this year?s COMMA fund to support projects in communities affected by quarrying.Communities can apply through their local RCAN member for grants of between ?3,000 and ?20,000 to support community projects and amenities. ACRE and RCAN are delivering the grants on behalf of DEFRA, funded by the aggregates levy on quarries. The fund is open to parish councils, registered charities and community organisations with a formal constitution. Almost any community activity can be supported. Applications must be made via one of the 23 RCAN members in whose areas the fund is applicable. Completed applications must be received by the relevant Rural Community Council on or before 7 November 2008.

Action in Rural Sussex

Action in Rural Sussex is the local administrator for the local network fund. The Local Network Fund provides funding to locally managed, voluntary, community or self-help groups that have projects in East Sussex or Brighton & Hove that address poverty or disadvantage among children or young people.

Adventure Capital Fund

ACF Business Development GrantsThis funding is aimed at community enterprises in their early stages of development. The maximum grant is ?15,000 for activities that will strengthen and prepare the organisation to run enterprise and trading activities and to become ready for larger investments, including loan finance. Age Concern England (ACE)

Bright Ideas Programme and The Barclays Programme
ACE runs two grant programmes for not-for-profit groups and organisations that provide services or activities that benefit older people. Bright Ideas Programme - Up to ?2,000 to any voluntary body (with an annual turnover less than ?200,000) that promotes the welfare of older peopole. The Barclays Programme - up to ?150 for small pieces of equipment or items that will improve a service or activity for older people.

Airways Charitable Trust Limited

Their priority is to help people to maintain independence within their own home. Grants are given to both organisations and individuals. Allen Lane Foundation

Priority to work outside London. About 20% funds on local projects. Imaginative or innovative projects, and the size of its grants (which are modest) makes start-up funding of smaller projects particularly appropriate. Grants are made for project costs, or core costs.

Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards 2008

The deadline for applications to the 2008 Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards is now imminent. In it's tenth year, this is the country's leading homelessness award with prize money of ?10,000 going to the outright winner, ?5,000 going to each of the three runners up and ?500 to each of the two shortlisted projects. The Judges look for evidence of work that: improves services to homeless people or people at risk of becoming homeless; prevents homelessness; and tackles disadvantage caused by homelessness. Potential applicants include housing and social service departments, registered social landlords, NHS trusts, and voluntary organisations in London. The closing date for entries is 10 June 2008.

ANUBIS III

Designed to advance business technology and provide companies with a competitive edge, ANUBIS III encourages the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to develop new products and processes.A budget of ?100,000 is available under the current round of the competition. Individual grants of up to ?10,000 will be made, to be invested in new technology. Small to medium-sized enterprises that do not have the resources to manage technological change are eligible to enter. The judges are keen to support a cross section of interest, ranging from traditional industries like manufacturing and agriculture, to creative businesses and service industries. Archaeological Research Funding

The Council for British Archaeology scheme offers grants of up to ?750 to encourage independent and voluntary effort in original archaeological research. Groups, societies and individuals working in a voluntary capacity or promoting voluntary involvement are 'challenged' to put forward proposals for projects which will either: say something new about the history of local surroundings, and so inform their future care and appreciation; or contribute to archaeological innovation (i.e. new or under-studied aspects of the historic environment, or new methods, techniques and approaches); or help non-government bodies to establish long-term resources or facilities to enable others to carry out their own original research.The funding will not cover university coursework.

Arts & Business

A&B South East is part of a national charitable organisation that exists to strengthen and enrich the way people live by opening doors and forging connections between the worlds of business and the arts. They support and encourage this process in the South East region through a range of programmes and services. These aim to promote an exchange of creative attitudes and business values to the mutual benefit of the arts, the commercial business and the environment in which they exist.

Arts Award

Funded by the Arts Award, the Access Fund offers awards of ?50-?500 available to help young people gain a fuller experience of their chosen area of the arts world. Grants can be spent on tickets and travel for events, fees for workshops with professional artists, hire of specialist equipment and venue hire.Closing date for applications: 12th October 2007.

Grants for the Arts
New guidance material has been issued for applications submitted after 31st October 2006 for the period 2006 - 2008. Grants range from ?200 to ?30,000 for individuals and from ?200 to ?100,000 to organisations. Applications submitted any time.

Arts Partnership Awards - Brighton & Hove City Council

These are annual grants, usually between ?500 to ?2,500, for community & voluntary organisations of any size. Awards are made towards community arts activities that are supported by a match funding partner and are generally made at five to 10% of the total requested from the match funding partner.
