WRAP Local Authority Support Programme

The Local Authority Support Programme offers operational, communications and waste prevention advice, skills training and limited funding for local communications activities to local authorities in England.A total of ?6.5 million is available for 2008/09, of which around ?3 million is likely to be allocated for local authority communications activities for the period to March 2009. Advisory support is available from May 2008 onwards and there is no deadline for submission of requests for support. However, the funding is linked to specific financial years, and WRAP needs to ensure that allocations of resources are made in good time to complete work within the financial year. This is particularly the case where part of the request is for communications funding. Early applications are encouraged from authorities that wish to be considered for communications funding. WRAP expects to be reaching decisions on these requests from June 2008. Funding allocated for 2008/09 communication activities must be spent by late February 2009.
